Blenheim Summer Time Blog

HAPPY SUMMER TO YOU ALL!!!  Especially those of you booked to stay with us of course!

Well the months have come and gone and here is the Summer Blog, falling so quickly after the Spring one, but months remain months but time continues to go far too fast!!

It’s difficult not to be affected by all the doom and gloom, doom and gloom already here and the impending stuff soon to be implemented on us all if the Spin Doctors of Government are to be believed.  But, hey, we are not in that depressing market, so despite these circumstances I offer you sun, relaxation and sea here in Glorious Devon……yes, we are going to have a tip-top summer, the Met; Office have more or less guaranteed us that… and that is reassuring is it not!!!

Anyway Summer is official here at The Blenheim as all the summer duvets were put on the beds a fortnight ago.

We are very happy meeting our annual visitors and it is simply wonderful to meet all the friendly faces on the stairs…. we are very lucky to have such nice people staying with us, many following our chit-chat blog, which is so comforting, it means someone reads this!

June is really busy but it is a great time to holiday in England as the weather is usually lovely and no kids, all tucked up in school which makes everything less busy.  Our guests have thoroughly used the ‘free bus pass’ and as the buses conveniently stop outside our door, it makes a convenient day out, with many going places I never knew a bus could ever go!! Surprising what can be done, with determination, a packed lunch, an adventurous spirit and a Bus Pass! July and August has its devotees too, with many guests preferring these months despite the school holidays and higher rates, the great thing is…we are all different, thank goodness.

Those visiting may see Alan a little happier, his golf handicap has improved.

All the DIY has been duly remarked upon by customers, it is regular customers who notice every little thing, after all our new guests take it as the norm quite naturally.  However, DIY quite rightly on hold now but my golden list grows ready for the winter work to commence…

We have new cygnets strutting about the Lawn which makes a pretty picture and the Council have again done lovely flower beds for us all to enjoy.  We have had steam engines running up and back over the last few weekends causing much excitement with the rail buffs and during the season there is to be a steam train up and back on Sundays.

There is much talk about the holiday industry some positive and some negative in regard to holidaying in England. In my experience, whether holidaying abroad or not, many people enjoy a break in England at some time, and whilst we all know, nothing remains the same, this applies to the holiday trade as well.  We have seen much interest in short-breaks and booking via our website or associated web links.  We respond by keeping our web up to date and replying quickly to any enquiries.  So you see, even a traditional seaside holiday business like ours, is responding to change but the key facts remain the same and that is giving the customer what is wanted and doing that the best way you can.  However, regular trade is the backbone of any business, but embracing new visitors is a step in the right direction because some of these may too, become one of our ‘regulars’

The lighter nights are fantastic and so we are able to enjoy our walks, with our wonderful dog Jessie for much longer… we have enjoyed a fabulous Aril and May, we will ignore the rain today, and hope that June pans out to be a warm month too…
