Blenheim
Autumnal Blog
As I write, I have
reached for my jacket! there it is, that
cold breath sweeping over me, reminding me that winter approaches. Ofcourse, the year has flown, I can hardly
believe it`s October with all that that entails.... as I usually spend my time running, it`s the
sitting down that makes me reach for my jacket!
The world news over
the months has not been very inspiring and sometimes it’s difficult to remember
all the good things going on as the sad and bad and gloomy news over-powers
it. However, here at The Blenheim our
holiday makers have continued to arrive, depart and then on their postcards
write.....`had a good time in Dawlish`... so things are not all bad. Our Christmas bookings are coming in, people
deciding to leave their familiar surroundings at Christmas time and spend the
festive season by the sea,and we are glad to welcome them... We have several bookings for 2013, guests
determined to get the studio they wish!
Winter work will soon
be in hand, with new kitchen and bathroom in No. 1 and a new bathroom in no.
3. Puffin, you know the one right at the top is being redecorated
and re-carpeted and for me, well my much used laundry room is having a complete
make-over with luxury shelves! Add paint jobs here and new fixings there and it
will be Spring and then here we go again.
The Blenheim continues
to keep abreast of the times, and we are accepting online bookings for the bed
and breakfast side of the business. This
facility is for potential guests who prefer to click, book, and pay without
speaking to me and that is understandable!
Fortunately in the main, guests will book in more
tradional form but according to statistics, 64% of people booking on the
internet, booked their holidays this way.
Ah well, we must progress or be lost!!
Dawlish itself, is undergoing some change in the future as some money
has come into being allowing changes and refurbishment of certain key areas, at
the moment the Council is requesting public in-put. Difficult to imagine changes but even Dawlish
can benefit if it is done sympathetically after all the seafront, I understand,
has not changed for a hundred years, plenty of scope there then.
Short breaks are in
the offing now this allows a great bargain way of having a break without the
expense of paying for the week. Let`s hope everyone continues to take their
breaks and are not hindered by the weather as last year, even we had snow here
for five weeks, amazing. So to you all this is The Blenheim signing off until
the New Year...... happy hols!
