The Blenheim is situated on the seafront in Dawlish. If your idea of a perfect holiday is a seaside resort in the true Victorian tradition of railway, buckets and spades and a promenade then Dawlish is the answer. Dawlish is a unique take on a traditional beach holiday with a real community feel to the town and all the traditional excitement of the sand and sea! Dawlish has plenty of things to do, most notably the long sandy beach and the town has plenty of interesting shops. The park is where you can see the famous Black swans glide through the river while you enjoy hot fish and chips or a traditional cream tea or a real Devon ice cream. Dawlish is a railway resort and from either direction the great western main line is regarded as one of the most scenic in Britain.
South Devon Coast Path – A walkers Delight!
Where else can you walk along 630 miles of such superb coastline which makes up the longest National Trail in the UK? The Blenheim has catered for ‘walkers’ for many years. We often have one night stays from guests enjoying walking the coastal path. These paths are in abundance around here and for a growing number walking the paths is a great way of spending a healthy holiday with wonderful cooked breakfasts every morning being a great bonus. The Haldon Forest Park, with it’s own cycle hire shop on site, offers families and thrill seekers alike some awesome trails through the woods. It is around 11 miles from us set high on the hill and offers stunning scenery as you would expect. Oh, and there’s a “GoApe” there as well! www.forestry.gov.uk
The Exe Estuary NCN Route 2, known as the Exe Estuary Trail, is proving to be to be a first class cyclingand walking route. … Opportunities to cross the river Exe by ferry at Starcross and the “Turf” adds another dimension to your day out.
Exeter & Plymouth City
For those liking the lively hustle and bustle of the City, Exeter with its historic Cathedral, Exeter museum, A guided tour of Exeter’s Underground Passages is a memorable event – narrow, dark, interesting and exciting. Exeter museum Further afield similar delights are offered by Plymouth famous for its Hoe where it is said Sir Frances Drake calmly completed his game of bowls whilst the Spanish Armada made its way up the English Channel with its aim of invasion.
Blue Flag Beaches
The English Riviera is made up of its three seaside towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and form an almost continuous resort around the great sweep of sandy beaches and blue waters of Torbay. Nearest beach’s to The Blenheim is Dawlish Beach and a lovely walk along seawall takes you straight to Dawlish Warren’s Blue flag beach along with shopping and children’s amusements and rides.
Dawlish railway station is on the Exeter to Plymouth line and serves the town of Dawlish in Devon, England. The station is built on the sea wall, as is the railway line, and has often suffered from storm damage due its proximity to the sea. Dawlish Station is a 3 minute walk and the railway line runs straight past us, so for rail enthusiasts The Blenheim is the perfect place to watch out for the steam trains. at least 6 of our rooms have views of the station. There are many scenic places to visit from Dawlish such as Exeter Paignton, Teignmouth and Torquay.
Trip to the Zoo
Paignton Zoo can be reached by rail from Dawlish. and Living Coasts Zoo & Aquarium in Torquay which is a 25 minute train journey from Dawlish.

Becky Falls Woodland Park is 6 miles away and voted the most beautiful place in Devon with its 50 acres of stunning woodland and waterfalls. Canonteign Falls is 8 miles from Dawlish which has a dramatic combination of waterfalls and lakes in the Teign valley in Dartmore National Park
